All good things come in threes
Three Antonov 12´s landed together
At first time ever at ZRH Airport three Antonov 12´s landed together at same time. They loaded at Masirah Airport (MSH)/Oman Airport dismantled Pilatus PC9 Aircrafts.
At the beginning, our Global Airlift Solutions operations team convinced AN12 Carrier with an AutoCAD simulation to accept this oversized shipment, which was before always flown in bigger and more expensive Hercules C130 Aircrafts.
At the end, our customer was happy due to an economic solution with the right chosen size of aircraft.

Last minute but in time
Special time challenge
One of our clients had a booking on a flight from another European airport, but suddenly he need this shipment much earlier as requested. He scanned the market for another solution, but all flights were fully booked or did not had right schedule. We could offer the right last minute solution with our local carrier from Luxembourg Airport, with whom we do have an excellent relationship. The special challenge for both parties involved was the last minute arrangements of material (steel-beams) for weight spreading. As the heavy weight with 24000 kg of the rotor-assembly needs special preparation to respect the weight-zones area of the loading bay from the B747F.
Also the security check with the airport security and handling agent for the shipment went well, while we agreed with client to partly open the steel-cover-box last minute for ETD (explosive trace detection).
The loading of the heavy 20/40ft-ULD-unit was a kind of “business as usual” for carrier and handling agent, as Luxembourg Airport and carrier is very specialized in loading heavy weights and long off-sized cargo.
Challenge accepted: Last minute arrangements of material for weight spreading.

Prevention of line shutdown at automotive factory
Loading of an AN124 aircraft is always a highlight.
Automotive parts for Mexico were urgently needed to prevent line shutdown at factory.
Due to huge volume of needed cargo, one of our clients could not find any further space on commercial flights within a certain timeframe to Mexico, so we offered our client a full AN124 charter service at the right time and at the right airport to absorb the huge volume at once.
Loading of an AN124 aircraft is always a highlight for all involved parties and therefore we invited our clients project team in close cooperation with the airports handling agent and carrier to supervise the loading.
We could fulfil the expectations of the client with our professional engagements of such projects.

Sometimes a centimetre makes the difference
exact planning with AutoCAD
We have been requested to organize an urgently needed aircraft spare part for an B747F aircraft which was AOG at same moment at Incheon Airport. As per the first load ability check of this thrust reverser with the maximum dimension of 368x340x242 cm, it would not fit into a scheduled commercial B747F flight. A scheduled aircraft type B777F with the huge maindeck-sidedoor of 372 cm width would be the perfect match to fly the woodenbox. But the availability of the B777F was too late and the said carrier could not wait any longer.
If you know the aircraft by heart and the specific dimensions of this aircraft in detail, then some “secret centimetre” makes the difference.
We made a loadstudy in AutoCAD and provide carrier with photos of a similar loading in order to convince their loadmaster of an earlier B747F commercial option to get that piece accepted to load on board. The sidedoor of B747F do have officially a width of 340cm, but if you know the aircraft by heart and the specific dimensions of this aircraft in detail, then some “secret centimetre” makes the difference. We could underline the proof and remind load-planning that such dimension would fit through the side-door cause of some additional 2 cm space at the door latches, based on photo documentation and technical drawings.
Of course loading and offloading is very critical, but when you sensibilise all parties involved to prevent any damage of aircraft during planning phase and loading , then things looks more easy.
At the end the big box has been accepted and flown on time to the waiting maintenance staff of the AOG aircraft. Mission accomplished.

Reliable partners and clear communication
Automotive parts have been produced fresh from factory at France and loaded on a small van going by road to a big automobile manufacturer at north of Germany.
But suddenly client need more speed for shipment and decided to interrupt the land transport for a quicker helicopter transport.
On very last minute, we re-routed the van on highway directly to the closest airport at that time passing by airport Trier-Foehren (ZQF).
In order to save time, our office team already organized “bubble-wrap” and being present upon arrival of the van with the big box automotive parts.
They repacked the shipment into smaller single parts with permission of client and load them piece by piece with special attention into the loading bay of the EC145 helicopter. The helicopter departed on time and flown directly into a special area parking spot to the factory at north of Germany.
We promised quicker delivery to client and could avoid a line shutdown at automobile manufacturer.

Alpacas flying business class to china
Global Airlift Solutions arranged a live animal cargo charter flight with 963 Alpacas from Santiago de Chile (SCL) to Tianjin (TSN). This live animal project required a lot of upfront preparation and organisation, not only at both airports but also the transit airport is affected, where the aircraft doing a fuel stop. Our operations team personally supervised at SCL Airport the coordination with the forwarder, his client, the local crew of the handling agent and the carrier.
The Global Airlift Solutions team at US prepared a contingency plan for emergencies for the transit airport Los Angeles (LAX), with all authorities and parties involved, who requires this action for approval of that animal project.
This contingency plan includes stand by arrangements for: warehouse capacities, extra manpower, veterinary, cleaning, disinfection, food and water supplies. The alpacas where accompanied by several grooms during the whole duration of the flight distance. All went well at the end on this project and all alpacas arrived at final destination in good and healthy condition.

50 cars flying from Japan to Italy
Global airlift solutions has flown total 50 “Fiat 124 spider” cars with dimension of 406x175x124 cm in one full lot on a B747-800F. Exercise was the total amount of cars to load in all positions at main-deck and lower-deck. After an intensive load-study with several load options, this was only possible in addition with carracks with 16ft ULDs equipment and special build up of lower-deck ULDs. Based on the 747-800F Boeing-Manual and the loadmaster of the nominated airline they did accept the maximum of cars.
Further challenge was providing this rented carracks equipment and hundreds of straps from Europe to the handling agent at NRT Airport for timely preparation of cargo build up. All went well at the end and cars have reached Italy on required deadline to client for final presentation.
We set the benchmark of 50 cars in one B747F-800F.

On Board Courier and Charter cooperation
Our philosophy works: Ensemble Logistics
An automotive factory (BMW) in the USA was facing a threat of production line to be shut down. In order to avoid this situation, spare parts produced in Czech Republic were urgently required. We found a quick solution for the client and arranged the pick up of the spare parts at a shipper and a truck drove to Augsburg and handed over the shipment to our On Board Courier. Our Luxembourg team organized a charter to take both shipment and On Board Courier to ATL. The Charter had a stopover in Reykjavik and landed in ATL, where our On Board Courier proceeded with the shipment to customs clearance and delivered the consignment to the factory, avoiding a stoppage of the production line.

Handle with care
We have been requested to transport handmade pottery vases which were in France and needed to be shipped to the USA for an art exhibition fair, in a short deadline. After checking the possibilities, we came out with a door to door critical care solution, including customs clearance and transportation insurance, to move such delicate cargo in a such short time.
The consignment was secured for transportation, picked up and delivered to the airline. After departing from Paris and landing in Los Angeles, the consignment was unloaded and delivered to the address of the art fair before the deadline while our team was monitoring the shipment 24h and customer received close updates the entire time.
Accomplished: Moving delicate cargo in short time.
